Privacy Policy & Text Messaging Terms
Effective October 2026
This policy explains how the Law Office of Ryan M. Mattson PC (“the firm”) handles information it receives through its websites — mattsonlegal.com and myfastdivorce.com (Mattson Law Ofc and My Fast Divorce are registered fictitious names of the firm) — and through calls, texts, faxes, and e-mail. Questions about it can go to the firm at info@myfastdivorce.com or 571-554-1440.
Information the firm receives
- What you send: your name, phone number, e-mail address, and anything you choose to share when you call, text, fax, or e-mail the firm.
- Client information: information about you and your matter that you provide during a consultation or representation.
- Website contact forms: the name, phone number, e-mail address, and message you enter; whether you checked the text-message consent box; and the time, page, IP address, and browser of the submission, which the firm keeps as the record of your consent. The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to screen out automated spam.
- Website data: the websites set no advertising cookies. The hosting provider records basic technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the sites.
How the firm uses it
- To respond to your inquiry and schedule consultations and appointments.
- To represent clients, including updates about a matter, document requests, and reminders of appointments, hearings, and deadlines.
- To keep the records that Virginia’s Rules of Professional Conduct and the law require.
Confidentiality
Information about a client’s matter is confidential under the Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct and, where it applies, the attorney–client privilege. Contacting the firm does not by itself create an attorney–client relationship; that relationship is formed only by a signed representation agreement. Even so, the firm treats what a prospective client shares in an inquiry with care and does not disclose it except as this policy describes.
Sharing
The firm does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. The firm shares information only:
- with service providers that deliver the firm’s communications and keep its records (for example, its telephone, text-messaging, fax, e-mail, and document-storage providers), and only as needed to provide those services;
- as needed to represent a client (for example, filing with a court or communicating with opposing counsel); or
- when the law, a court order, or the Rules of Professional Conduct require it.
Text messaging (SMS) terms
The firm sends text messages to clients, prospective clients, and others involved in a client’s matter who have provided their phone numbers for communication. Messages are sent to respond to inquiries, follow up with prospective clients about their inquiry, schedule and confirm appointments, give case updates, request documents, and send billing and payment links. The firm only sends text messages to individuals who have initiated contact or provided their own phone number in connection with a legal matter. The firm does not purchase, rent, or sell contact lists.
This policy applies to all current and future firm personnel or authorized representatives who send text messages on the firm’s behalf.
- How you agree to receive texts: by texting the firm; by agreeing when asked during a call with the firm whether the firm may text you; by checking the text-message consent box on a firm website contact form or the firm’s intake questionnaire; or, for clients, in the representation agreement. If you contact the firm by voicemail, e-mail, or online message and provide a phone number, you may receive a reply text about your inquiry. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of hiring the firm.
- Message frequency varies depending on the nature of your inquiry or matter.
- Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile plan.
- To stop texts, reply STOP at any time. You will receive one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. To start again, reply START.
- For help, reply HELP or e-mail info@myfastdivorce.com.
- Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are excluded from every category of sharing described in this policy and will not be shared with any third party.
Please do not text information you consider highly sensitive (such as a Social Security number) unless the firm asks for it; the firm may suggest a more secure way to send it.
Security and retention
The firm uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, and keeps client records for as long as the Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable law require.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
